Planning a Kitchen Remodel in NJ: What to Decide Before You Demo

Most kitchen remodels stall not because of construction problems, but because decisions weren't made in the right order. Cabinets drive countertop layout. Countertops drive sink and faucet selection. Plumbing rough-in has to be locked before drywall goes back up. If those decisions arrive late, the schedule slips — and the budget slips with it.
Before any demo, lock in: footprint and any wall changes, cabinet brand and door style, countertop material, appliance package with exact dimensions, and the sink/faucet specs. Lighting and electrical can be finalized once those are set.
If you're remodeling a kitchen in Ocean or Monmouth County, expect 3–5 weeks of active construction for a standard remodel — longer only when walls move, additions tie in, or custom cabinetry has a long lead time.
